We organise the quarterly “Transforming Prayer” events that used to be called “prayer concerts” for Transforming Luton. In these we focus on a particular aspect of our community, for instance the police and crime reduction, or schools, or the NHS and the L&D. We invite people who have particular involvement in these areas to share so that our prayers are informed.
We see intercession and worship as flowing from one to another and we are particularly grateful to Liz Green for organising inter-church worship bands for these occasions.
Last year we felt called to pray for the “gates” of Luton, to pray about what comes in and out. Last year we prayed at the airport. This year we will be praying for the roads where they enter Luton.
We also had a word, clearly confirmed, to keep the fire of prayer burning on the altar. In response we are planning some sustained times of prayer this year.
For the last two years we have joined with the rest of the world on the day of Pentecost of the Global day of Prayer, and the global 10 days of prayer preceding it.
We have also shared the Urban Saint’s “prayer room” space where we have held our 10 days of prayer and other town wide prayer times.
