The Oasis Drop in Centre
Is a place of friendship and safety where women and children who do not have English as their first language or England as their home country can come to find help and friendship. Many are very lonely and this has an adverse effect on their health. The centre is a place where women can come and meet others from other cultural backgrounds and make friendships across cultural boundaries. These friendships often extend into the community and play an important role in the development of 'community' in the locality. Funding comes from some local churches along with other sources.
Weekly activities include drop in times for women and any young children in their care - where they could receive a range of help from help filing in forms to having one to one chats on more serious issues which would end in a time of prayer.
There are three basic English conversation classes each week - 2 for ladies and one for men, mainly for those not able to attend adult education classes for some specific reason.
Our aim is to share God's love with the many people who come through our doors and who know little of the God who has a heart for them.
Prayer Points
- For God's love to be seen and experienced in a very real way at the centre
- For wisdom for the helpers as they deal with a wide variety of people
- For those that come, that they will always feel welcomed, secure and loved while they are with us
- For the continuing need for God to send us the right helpers
